Welcome to Camosun College! In addition to the support of your department Chair, Dean or Director, Associate Dean, administrative staff and colleagues, there are many other people, activities and services that can help you transition into your new position at Camosun. Audio/Visual Services:
Need a computer for your Power Point presentation? Want to book a video for teaching purposes? To know more about the A/V department and their services go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/avservices/ or call Lansdowne at 370-3621 or Interurban at 370-4606.
Bookstore:
All textbooks are ordered and sold through the Camosun College Bookstore. For more information on Bookstore services and products go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/bookstore/ or call Lansdowne at 370-3080 or Interurban at 370-4080.
Computer Assistance:
Assistance with computer related problems are handled by the Computing Services Help Desk by calling 370-3064 or emailing helpdesk@camosun.bc.ca.
Counselling Services for Students:
If you have a student in crisis or in need of counselling services for career or personal purposes, the student can be referred to the Counselling Centre by calling 370-3751(Lansdowne) or 370-4925 (Interurban). Disability Services for Students:
Students who have documented learning disabilities that may affect their ability to learn and study at Camosun will have documentation to that effect coming from the Disability Resource Centre (DRC). Questions about any accommodations can be directed to DRC staff at Lansdowne at 370-3312 or at Interurban at 370-4049. For more information go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/drc/.
Directory Assistance:
There are a number of ways to get directory assistance. Dialing “0” will get you the Camosun College Operator. Dialing “9” then “0”, will get you an external operator. All staff and faculty are also listed on the Microsoft Outlook Address Book and alphabetically on the college intranet (http://intranet/_directory_/directory.php).
Camosun Online:
If you are interested in developing curriculum for distributed learning, setting up a faculty website or developing your online teaching skills, contact desupport@camosun.bc.ca or visit the DE website at: www.disted.camosun.bc.ca.
Faculty Identification:
Faculty ID cards are created by Library staff in the Library Media Centre at either campus. No appointment is necessary. Bring a smile and be prepared to be photographed. Your Faculty ID card is also your Library card. College name badges (magnetic) are available through your School administrative office.
First Aid:

In case of emergency, call 370-3075.

A number of Camosun staff and faculty are trained to deliver first aid to anyone injured on campus.
Health and Wellness:

Human Resources:

Library Services:
Each campus has a Library Media Centre and the hours of service vary in each location. For information on hours, go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/library/. The library catalogue can be accessed online via this link as well. To borrow materials, you will need a Faculty ID card, available through the Library.
Maintenance Problems:
If you have or see problems related to the maintenance of your office, classrooms or the buildings etc, call Physical resources at 370-3041.
Mentoring:
A mentoring initiative for faculty called Collaborative ALLIANCES in Support of Teaching and Learning Excellence began in 2004. For further information call Karin Kaercher at 370-3333 or Nancy Sly at 370-3498.
Ombudsman’s Office:
Camosun College ’s Ombudsman provides assistance to students who have issues with the application of college policy, have grievances or have other college related concerns. The Ombudsman can be reached at 370-3405. For an overview of services go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/ombuds/.
Parking:
For information on parking on campus, please refer to the Camosun Intranet (requires login credentials).
Photocopying services:
Photocopy machines for faculty use are located in the Library and most other buildings on campus. You will need a code to use faculty-dedicated copiers. The admin. staff in your School office can arrange for your copy code number.
Printing Services:
Camosun has a Print Shop on each campus and printing needs can be delivered and picked up between the hours of 8 and 4. The print shop will require you to complete a Printing and Duplication Requisition form available at the print shop. You will also need to know your department’s cost centre code so that the printing costs can be charged back to your Department’s budget. The print shop has a copy of these cost centre codes. Allow several days for your printing to be completed, or check with the print shop on their ability to print something in a hurry. Lansdowne Print shop–370-3061; Interurban Print shop-370-3894.
Recreation and Athletics:
Looking for gym facilities or an aerobics class? For the range of recreation services available to both faculty and students go to http://www.camosun.bc.ca/rec/.
Security Services:

In case of emergency, call 370-3075.

Camosun has security available day and night on campus. Security personnel can also help unlock a door or address other security related concerns.

Writing Centre: Online
Do you have a student needing help with their writing skills? If so, go to http://camosun.ca/services/assessment/online-writing-centres.html for more information.
Voicemail:
Once you have been assigned a telephone local or extension, you will be given a code with which to retrieve voice mail messages. For assistance on using the voice mail system, call 370-3960. To retrieve messages from inside the college call 3001 and from home call 370-3001. Follow the prompts. If you key in 7 it will allow you to go in reverse, 8 allows you to pause, 9 to go forward, * to skip the message and # to repeat.
