The Learning and Teaching Centre (LTC) supports a variety of professional development opportunities ranging from 1 hour brown bag lunch sessions to an annual one-day Celebration of Teaching event (a sampling of workshops is below). For workshop or facilitator suggestions, please contact Nancy Sly.
- Cheating and the Lessons Learned
- This session will appeal to those faculty and staff who have concerns about student academic dishonesty and would like information on the forms it can take and an opportunity to explore how to respond to this behaviour.
- Accommodating for Success
- Did you know that accommodations are provided to over 400 students per year? Join staff of the DRC as they outline their services with a focus on some of the myths and realities concerning the provision of accommodation.
- Tips for Helping Second Language Students in Your Classroom
- Faculty and staff working with students for whom English is a second language will find this session especially helpful. Iris and Elizabeth will focus on identifying the challenges and successful strategies for both faculty and students.
- Alternative and Traditional Routes for Doctoral Studies
- Come for an informative session with Dr. Aaron Devor (UVic) and Dr. Stephen Long (RRU) as they discuss doctoral studies, traditional and alternative routes.
- A Celebration of Teaching and Learning Excellence!
- Join dynamic speaker Gary Poole (Director of TAG at UBC) as he speaks about “Enhancing Students’ Learning by Increasing Engagement” as well as many faculty colleagues and students for their presentations on ‘Creating a Positive Learning Environment’, Using Questions Strategically’, ‘Coaching & Self-Reflective Practice’, ‘Student Tips’, ‘Senior Faculty Vitality; and ‘Developing a Community Memory’.
